Meet Alison!
Alison Nelson is the owner and founder of Son Speech Therapy, P.C. She is a licensed speech language pathologist by the California Department of Consumer Affairs Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
Alison has experience across the lifespan working in various settings including private practice, early-intervention, public schools, acute care, and post acute. Alison received her B.S. from University of Nevada, Reno in Speech Language Pathology & Audiology and her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Cal State East Bay. During her academic journey, Alison participated in the ASPIRE Autism grant program, enhancing her collaborative skills in both early intervention and school settings.
With a comprehensive background in expressive and receptive language, fluency, articulation/phonology, cognition, and swallowing, Alison is deeply committed to facilitating functional communication skills with her clients.
During her leisure hours, Alison finds joy in reading, staying active through workouts, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and their golden retriever.

No. At this time, Son Speech Therapy, P.C., is private-pay only and does not accept or work with any insurance plans. We are happy to provide a superbill upon request that may help you secure reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to inquire about out-of-network benefits and reimbursement policies.
Before beginning services, families are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to ask about out-of-network benefits and any required approvals. If needed, we can provide guidance on what questions to ask to help make this process easier.

Evaluations and therapy services are primarily provided in-home unless otherwise requested. We also offer flexible options including Telehealth and community-based services, such as in preschools.

Absolutely. If your child did not qualify for Early Intervention or school-based services and you still have concerns about their communication or feeding development, we are here to help.
We’ll take time to understand your concerns and offer the level of support that best fits your child and family. This may include an evaluation, ongoing therapy, caregiver coaching, or a combination of services tailored to your goals. -
Son Speech Therapy provides in-home speech and feeding services to the following cities:
Walnut Creek, Concord, Lafayette, Alamo, and Pleasant Hill. Virtual therapy is an optional as well.
